To configure OrangePasses for your school, start by setting up the system to meet your specific needs.
The pages you should visit are Edit School, Bathroom Buddies, and Priority Students.
Edit School
Begin by visiting the Edit Pass Options page where you can assign specific locations for passes at your school. You can find this page by going to the Admin dropdown in the navigation bar and selecting Edit School.
OrangePasses provides four default pass options: bathroom, nurse, guidance, and library. These are the essential options that we recommend, but you may want to add additional pass options for other common areas such as a prayer room, water fountains, and office. To add new pass options, click the Add Option button at the bottom of the table. Use the pen icon to give names to options. For specialized locations like the nurse’s office, we suggest designating the nurse as the recipient. This way, the nurse can see who is coming to visit. By designated a recipient of a pass option you can also force the recipient to also approve the pass to them.
On the Edit School page, you can set a default pass limit to control the number of passes a student can use each day.
By default, passes are automatically returned after 60 minutes if not manually returned. If this duration is not suitable for your school, you can adjust it as needed.
When a teacher is unavailable, substitutes take their place. If you have a staff member who typically handles substitute onboarding, designate them as the Substitute Admin. This role allows them to onboard substitutes effectively. Note that we recommend onboarding substitutes for long-term periods rather than for single days.
Bathroom Buddies
Additionally, we recommend setting up Bathroom Buddies. This feature is useful if you need to ensure that certain students are not in the hallways at the same time. You can access this setup under the Admin dropdown by selecting Bathroom Buddies. To create a buddy set click the new group button.
Priority Students
Another useful feature is Priority Students, which allows specific staff members to receive notifications when designated students are in the hallways. To set this up, go to the Admin dropdown and select Priority Students. To create a priority student click the new student button.
